Josh Smith: “I’m very familiar with paper and pressure. I was raised around that, I understand that and it applies to my painting a lot too. It’s part of my process of quality control. Maybe a question is about seriality. That’s so I can create a system of checks and balances. Because when I see a problem with one painting, I can learn to like it. Say ‘That painting is broken.
