Thomas Houseago in conversation with Michel Draguet
Filmed in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, the artist discusses the exhibition Vision Paintings.
I was like a painter that couldn’t handle painting. My energy was so fraught and so intense and painting required patience and a belief in abstraction… I think in this period of my life, I have finally found the ability to paint. I’ve been able to start to see the world in colour. I think I saw the world in black and white for a long time. I felt like blood was re-entering my veins. I felt like I was breathing and I wasn’t a zombie anymore.
