The luxury Italian brand Bottega Veneta was one of the sponsors behind the 1984 edition of Next Wave Festival, an annual performing arts event produced by the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). This clutch photographed by Mapplethorpe was featured as a full-page advertisement in the festival’s catalogue.
