Through still images and video, Love Never Wanted Me (2013) follows a wild fox on the grounds Emin’s secluded home and studio in the South of France—where in March of 2016 the artist announced she had married a monumental stone that resides on her land. The artist narrates a personal account of the pain suffered through love’s impermanence. She says, “The broken heart is a lonely world and this is the love that I know.”
