Spanning over four decades of work, the new book Drawing: Antony Gormley offers the first comprehensive survey of the artist’s drawing practice. Bringing together more than 400 works, it traces Gormley’s deep engagement with drawing as a fundamental mode of inquiry - one that moves between thought, sensation and the physical experience of mark-making.

On 27 April, Gormley will enter in conversation with Daniel F. Herrmann, the National Gallery’s Ardalan Curator of Modern and Contemporary Projects, offering a rare opportunity to hear Gormley reflect on the role drawing plays within his wider artistic practice, from the immediacy of line and gesture to the expressive potential of the materials he chooses, including charcoal, earth, mushroom ink and blood.

Drawing: Antony Gormley (2026) is published by Thames & Hudson. Signed copies will be available to purchase before and after the talk
