The Consortium Museum’s collection reflects the history of its exhibitions since the late 1970s. Today, reuniting nearly 380 works of art, it is mainly made up of donations from artists, galleries, and collectors. Since 2018, a space on the first floor of the building has been dedicated to this collection, presenting thematic hangings of the works that constitute it.

After New York: The Eighties, a three-part cycle of exhibitions that revealed the close ties that the Consortium Museum maintained with the North American scene of that decade, followed by a monographic exhibition by Bertrand Lavier, Sélection Française concentrates on works of art produced by major French artists from the 1960s to the 1990s.

This selection recalls the historic anchoring of the Consortium Museum in the history of art of the last forty years and testifies to the long-standing relationships forged with this generation. The artists invited here have sometimes held their first monographic exhibitions at the Consortium Museum or produced works specifically within the framework of these invitations; they then joined the collection, which became witness of these affinities.
