Christopher Wool in conversation with Anne Pontégnie

Filmed in Brussels, the artist and curator discuss the current exhibition.

This video was made in accordance with the exhibition Christopher Wool at Xavier Hufkens. The artist is joined by his long-time collaborator and the exhibition’s curator, Anne Pontégnie, for a conversation spanning New York’s mid-1970s creative scene, the interconnectedness of his work across media, making art in Marfa, TX, and more.

l: “Chicago in the 60s was wild, and New York in the 70s was really wild. I think I learned a lot just from my artistic environment (...) I didn’t go to Texas looking to see how it was going to affect my work. This idea of seeing the open spaces and thinking about sculpture, it influenced my work but it didn’t mean I started making horizontal paintings...”
