David Altmejd in L’héritage des restes

The concept of the monument is at the heart of this group exhibition featuring works from our permanent collection. It draws on our impetus to commemorate collective myths that have been deemed important and whose legacy is sometimes contested, as we see today. From different eras or styles and produced in a variety of mediums, these works illustrate the evolution of an art practice grounded in the sculptural, the monumental, the permanent, and in the transmission of stories, both big and small, for posterity. This exhibition invites us to re-evaluate the notion of the monument through different artistic approaches and perspectives developed over the last one hundred years.
