Saâdane Afif in Moving in Stereo

In a major presentation of the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection, highlights of the collection, around 150 works from 1910 to the present day, are exhibited in Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz Museum. The spectrum of this exhibition ranges from the southwest German classics Adolf Hölzel, Willi Baumeister and Oskar Schlemmer to young international artists such as Cao Fei, Clément Cogitore and Alia Farid. Parallel to the permanent exhibition at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, which chronologically presents the history of the automobile, selected works from a broad media spectrum are on display: from painting, drawing, sculpture and light objects to photography, installation and video. Part of the show is a thematic exhibition in which works with musical aspects and commissioned works related to the automobile enter into a multifaceted dialogue. At the center of this focus is a room-sized, mobile and sounding sculpture by Swiss artist Jean Tinguely, titled Méta-Maxi from 1986, which is on view in Stuttgart for the first time.
