On June 29, START Museum opens its annual major exhibition I witness gold-paved Shanghai to the public. As the fourth installment of the Museum’s inaugural exhibition series, this show raises a fundamental question: Should we revisit the very definitions of "who is an artist" and "what is art"? Over its six-month duration, the exhibition’s curation and the discourse it generates will carry profound significance.
The exhibition spans different eras and features 39 artists. The museum has spent three years planning four opening exhibitions and has launched multiple long – term practical series, enjoying a certain reputation and influence in the art circle.
