Colin Wiggins on Leon Kossoff

A new video on the exhibition Close Encounters: Paintings and Drawings

In this new video, curator Colin Wiggins discusses Leon Kossoff's current exhibition, Close Encounters: Paintings and Drawings, featuring paintings and drawings made over a four-decade period.

“Leon is an artist about making discoveries and that’s why he drew from artists like Rubens, Veronese, Goya, Cézanne and Constable so often. Because he wanted to discover in these art works what made him attracted to them.” — Colin Wiggins

Colin Wiggins is a London-based art historian and curator. He worked over thirty years as Head of Education and Special Projects Curator at the National Gallery. In 2007, he curated the National Gallery exhibition ‘Leon Kossoff: Drawing from Painting’.
