Jonathan Horowitz's Free Store project was launched in 2009 and was inspired by the work of the artist and activist collective Diggers, which operated primarily in San Francisco in the late 1960s. In this project, areas are designated in cultural spaces – museums, galleries, event spaces – where visitors are invited to leave objects that they no longer need and to take away whatever they would like. This approach aims to organically generate non-capitalist economies and social spaces for the recycling of goods. There are no rules or regulations, and no money is involved.

During the Queen Classic Surf Festival, take part in this installation: bring stuff in that you no longer use, take stuff away that you can.
